Croaticum participated in a panel on the importance of integration of people granted asylum and asylum seekers into Croatian society

Croaticum – Centre for Croatian as a Second and Foreign Language participated in a panel on the importance of integration of people granted asylum and asylum seekers into Croatian society. The panel titled Literary Awareness was organized on 20 November 2018 by the Dugave Library and the Civic Initiative of Dugave. For the seventh time, the panel gathers citizens and discusses the literature of the countries of the asylum seekers and people granted asylum with the hope that it can sensitize Croatian society to people seeking refuge in Croatia, fleeing their homelands affected by war or other life-threatening circumstances. This time, Afghanistan was presented. Due to the fact that the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Croaticum, an institution with great experience in teaching Croatian as a second language, hold a second semester in a row with a specialized course in which asylum seekers and people granted asylum learn Croatian language and acquaint themselves with Croatian culture, the panel also discussed the topic of the importance of Croatian language learning for integration of asylum seekers and people granted asylum into Croatian society.
