Scholarships and academic mobility

All students participating in academic mobility programmes (Erasmus+, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements) who study at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb may attend Croaticum’s programmes organised in the winter and summer semesters free of charge (except for the Short Semester Course of the Croatian Language and Culture for Erasmus+ Students). Students participating in the Erasmus+ academic mobility programme at another faculty of the University of Zagreb can enrol in the Short Semester Course of the Croatian Language and Culture for Erasmus+ Students. Croaticum students not participating in academic mobility programmes may, if they fulfil the necessary requirements, apply for a scholarship awarded by the Central State Office for Croats Abroad.

Erasmus+

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb signed a series of cooperation agreements within Erasmus+ programme with a number of universities in Europe and the world. All Erasmus+ students attending any of the programmes at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb may attend the Semester Course of the Croatian Language and Culture and elective courses in Croatian language and culture free of charge. The programmes are accredited and award ECTS credits.

If you would like to study Croatian language and culture at Croaticum, check if your university has signed a cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb. 

Students participating in the Erasmus+ programme at some other faculty of the University of Zagreb can enrol in the Short Semester Course of the Croatian Language and Culture for Erasmus+ Students.

CEEPUS

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb is a partnering institution of CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies). Current member countries are Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Serbia. All CEEPUS students attending any of the programmes at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb may attend  the Semester Course of the Croatian Language and Culture, elective courses in Croatian language and culture and the One-Month Course of the Croatian Language and Culture free of charge. The programmes are accredited and award ECTS credits.

CEEPUS offers two types of academic mobility: network mobility and freemover mobility, lasting from one month to one semester. If you wish to come to Croaticum and learn about Croatian language and culture, check if your faculty is part of CEEPUS Language and Literature in a Central European Context or Slavic Philology and its Cultural Contexts network and contact your CEEPUS coordinator to get more information on network mobility. If your faculty is not part of these CEEPUS networks, you can apply for freemover mobility.

Bilateral agreements

The bilateral programme of academic mobility is a programme which awards scholarships to incoming international students on the basis of international bilateral agreements and cooperation programmes signed between Croatia and other countries. Calls for applications are published at the beginning of each calendar year. More information is available on the websites of the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes and the Ministry of Science and Education.

Central State Office for Croats Abroad

For a number of years the Central State Office for Croats Abroad has been awarding scholarships for learning Croatian to the descendants of Croatian emigrants, their spouses and friends of Croatia. The public call for applications is usually published in May. More information on the programme and the application procedure is available on the website of the Central State Office for Croats Abroad.
